On behalf of the Johnstown varsity girls lacrosse team, I would like to thank every person who supported our team as they hosted a Go Gray For May, Coaches vs. Cancer game on May 7.
Special thanks go to: the players for all their hard work helping raise awareness of brain cancer, and raising money for the American Cancer Society; the parents who baked and manned the table; the fans who attended and wore gray in support of the cause; Mr. Beatty and Mr. Robare for letting us host this game and event and hang flyers; the Purple and Gold Club for donating to the cause and taking donations at the door; the teachers at Warren Street Elementary School for wearing gray and supporting the cause; the Clinton Warriors, who also lost a beloved girls lacrosse coach to cancer recently, and to everyone who attended the game or supported in some way.
I would also like to thank Coach Scott Petrie and the boys varsity lacrosse team for accepting the gray ribbons and placing them on their helmets that day. We are grateful for your willingness to participate in this event; it's always wonderful to have other teams support one another.
Finally, we'd like to thank The Leader-Herald for being willing to cover our event and help us promote it. The girls, parents and volunteers raised $500, exceeding our goal, and are very proud to donate this money to help find a cure for cancer.
Every little bit helps.
