Mr. Harold C. "Cliff" Podschelne, age 90, of Gloversville, died peacefully on Friday, May 17, 2013, at Albany Medical Center with his family at his side.
He was born August 14, 1922, in Plattsburgh, the son of the late Sigfried and Mabel Benway Podschelne. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Asiatic/Pacific Campaign.
Harold was employed by Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation for 45 years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was married August 1, 1942, to Hazel V. Johnson, who died February 5, 2000.
Survivors include: five children, Ronald E. Podschelne (Sue) of Clifton Park, Victoria A. Crankshaw of Gloversville, Gloria J. Deyo of Verona, William "Jim" Podschelne (Annette) of Georgia and Darlene S. Felton (Kenneth) of Gloversville; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Harold was predeceased by all nine of his siblings, Gene Podschelne, Lawrence Podschelne, George Podschelne, Mildred Leo, Edith Blowers, Dorothy Feldman, Betty Buchanan, Eleanor Van Nort and Pearl Wilcox.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, May 24, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Sandra Geer officiating. Interment with military honors will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
