Janice L. Ruberti

Janice L. Ruberti, 68, of Gloversville, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2013, surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness.

She was born in Amsterdam, N.Y., on July 20, 1944, the daughter of Leo Kowalczyk and Julia (Kryszczak) Kowalczyk.

Janice attended Amsterdam schools and graduated in 1961. She was later employed by Mohasco Corporation and Fulton County Public Health from where she retired in 2006. During that time, she made many wonderful friends with whom she held dear to her heart.

Janice was predeceased by her husband, Albert P. Ruberti of Gloversville, whom she married on August 30, 1975.

She is survived by two daughters, Amy L. Ruberti and Jennifer Gillis (Paul), both of Gloversville; and four stepchildren, AJ Ruberti (Patricia) of Fairfield, Conn., James Ruberti (Jeanne) of Houston, Texas, Ruth Ann Downs (Paul) of Rochester, and Anthony Ruberti (MariLou) of Greenwich, Conn.

Janice is also survived by three brothers, Joseph Kowalczyk, Daniel Kowalczyk (Veronica), and Richard Kowalczyk, all of Amsterdam; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Janice was an avid reader and always carried a book with her. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Her most cherished moments were those spent with her family, especially her five grandchildren, Preston and Julia Gillis of Gloversville, Brian Kelly-Ruberti and Nicole Kelly of Fairfield, Conn. and Kate Ruberti of Greenwich, Conn.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2013, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Gloversville. The Rev. Matthew Wetsel will be the celebrant. Interment will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.

Memorial contributions in her name can be made to the Gloversville Public Library, 58 E. Fulton St., Gloversville or to the Church of the Holy Spirit, 151 S. Main St., Gloversville, NY 12078.
