LITTLE FALLS - The Amsterdam Mohawks halted their three-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over Mohawk Valley in 10 innings in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League contest Saturday at Veteran's Memorial Park.
In the 10th, Ed Charlton had a single for the Mohawks and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by John Sansone. After Jordan Ebert drew a walk for Amsterdam, John Nogowski singled home the eventual game-winning run.
Nogowski was 4-for-5 with an RBI for Amsterdam (6-9 overall), while Charlton and Brian Ruby both went 2-for-4.
Chris Kalica picked up the win for the Mohawks improving to 1-0, while Patrick Michon took the loss for the DiamondDawgs dropping to 0-2 on the year.
Jordan Friend was 1-for-5 with an RBI for Mohawk Valley (7-8 overall), while Daulton Harrington (ULM) 2-for-5. Willie Shaw had a triple for the DiamondDawgs, while Craig Lepre and Sam Dexter both recorded singles.
Amsterdam is scheduled to host Newark today in a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. at Shuttleworth Park.
