Mrs. Verna M. Rose, age 78, of Johnstown, died Sunday evening, June 23, 2013, at Wells Nursing Home, Johnstown, where she has resided the past several months.
She was born July 12, 1934, in Northville, the daughter of the late Vern and Blanche Frasier Young. A 1952 graduate of Gloversville High School, she later worked at the former Trust Company of Fulton County and for many years as a secretary at St. Thomas Inc.
Mrs. Rose was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Gloversville.
She was married on June 2, 1956, to Lawrence C. Rose, who died May 6, 2008. Survivors include: her son, Charles L. Rose (Shari) of Bleecker; a brother, David V. Young of the town of Mayfield; three grandchildren, Troy C. Rose (Christine), Sasha A. Rose and Kristina M. Sena; two great-grandchildren, Arianna Rose and Gianna M. DiMaio; several nieces and nephews.
Verna was predeceased by: her daughter, Cheryl A. Sena (whose husband, Charles Sena survives); and her sister, Martha B. Groff.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a Prayer Service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Matthew Wetsel officiating.
Interment will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.
