William A. Roosa, 77, of Johnstown, N.Y., passed away Monday, June 24, at Mountain Valley Hospice. He was born Feb. 16, 1936, in Kingston, N.Y., the son of Alva and Edna Yerry Roosa. On June 27, 1959, he was united in marriage to the former Margaret Danford who survives. Mr. Roosa was a graduate of Kingston High School and attended Ryder College and Ulster County Community College. He was first employed as an advertising salesman for the Kingston Dailey Freeman and from 1979 to 1998 he continued as an advertising salesman for the Leader-Herald. Besides his wife, Mr. Roosa is survived by a daughter, Margaret Ann Roosa of Seattle, Washington; and three grandchildren, William, Emmy and Phoebe Herland. He is also survived by two sisters, Beverly Roosa and Barbara Baker; and a brother, Jack Roosa; nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his son, William Allen Roosa; and a brother, Alva Roosa. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Ehle Funeral Home where a memorial service will be held immediately following at 7 p.m. Cremation took place at Vale Crematory, Schenectady, N.Y. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice or St. John's Episcopal Church.
