Mrs. Marjery J. Gallup Brockhum, age 78, of Gloversville, died Friday evening, July 12, 2013, at her home following a brief illness.
She was born October 18, 1934, in Wells, N.Y., the daughter of the late David and Ruth Buyce Gallup. She was employed as a factory worker many years ago by the former Deyoe and Clute Box Company of Johnstown.
Marjery enjoyed family life and especially loved her grandchildren.
She was married on September 26, 1987, to Calvin R. Brockhum, who died May 8, 2002.
Survivors include six children, Edward John Brockhum, Wayne Alan Brockhum, Tammy Lynn Brockhum, Carolyn Jean Brockhum, James David Brockhum and Brenda Lee Bates, all of Gloversville; four brothers, Harold Gallup (Flora) of Broadalbin, Sherrill Gallup of Mayfield, Ralph Gallup of Johnstown and Howard Gallup of Gloversville; two sisters, Lucille Colburn of Franklin, N.Y. and Florence Hopkins of Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Also surviving are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marjery was predeceased by two daughters, Linda Lou Brockhum and Lesley Ann Taylor; two grandchildren, Christian M. Brockhum and David W. Brockhum; as well as ten siblings, Evelyn Edwards, Marian Hill, Ruth Orr, Donald Gallup, Joseph Gallup, Norman Gallup, George Gallup, Gordon Gallup and Roscoe Gallup.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown, with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. There will be no calling hours.
