Edward J. Kalkbrenner, 66, of Gifford Valley Road, Northville, died Monday, July 15, 2013, at home with his loving family by his side. He was born on December 9, 1946, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of the late John and Mary Greer Kalkbrenner. He was a United States Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam Era.
Mr. Kalkbrenner worked for many years as an independent truck driver. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1076 of Northville and a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He married MaryLouise Coopey on October 27, 1975.
Survivors include his children, Bernadette Edwards, Deborah (Drew) Chesterfield, Daniel (Tammy) Reidell, Erik (Michelle) Reidell, Marylou Millington, Michael (Hazel) Kalkbrenner, Lisa (Tom) Wood, Stephen (Adrienne) Kalkbrenner and Tonya (Scott) Moore; one brother, John (Pat) Kalkbrenner, twenty-nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and his best friend and companion, his dog, Cocoa. Several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews also survive him. He was predeceased by his wife; mother and father-in-law; brothers-in-law; a sister-in-law; and a niece.
Friends may call on Thursday, July 18, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Interment will be held at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Northampton Ambulance Corps or Mountain Valley Hospice.
