Cindy J. Anastasio, 54, of County Highway 126, Broadalbin, died at home on Thursday afternoon, August 8, 2013.
She was born in Brooklyn on July 30, 1959, a daughter of William and Ina Gee Huyben, and was a 1977 graduate of Tottonville High School in Staten Island. Cindy moved to Broadalbin in 1991.
She enjoyed gardening and tending to her houseplants. Cindy was an avid New York Mets fan and still enjoyed her favorite band, Queen. She loved her pets and enjoyed supporting animal rescue organizations. One of her greatest joys was doting on her grandkids. Cindy was a volcano of love, joy, exuberance and smiles, and everything good and lovely in the world. She was deeply loved by her family and friends, and she will never be forgotten.
Survivors include her husband, Frank J. Anastasio, whom she married on December 1, 1979; a son, Frankie W. (Jessica) Anastasio; a daughter, Danielle J. (Padrick) Smith, all of Broadalbin; her mother, Ina Huyben of Gloversville; a brother, William (Kerry) Huyben of Ballston Spa; a sister, Judy (Robert) Bickmeyer of Broadalbin; her mother- and father-in-law, Doris and Jess Anastasio of Toms River, NJ; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Bauer of Beachwood, NJ and Margaret Veach of Staten Island; two granddaughters, Chloe and Leah; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Cindy was also anxiously awaiting the birth of her identical twin grandsons, Ashton and Elijah, in November.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106 (corner of Route 29 & Black Street), Johnstown. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Michael Veach, Cindy's brother-in-law, officiating. Burial will be in the Broadalbin-Mayfield Rural Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, in care of the funeral home.
