David L. Grenier

David L. Grenier, age 63, of Gloversville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 10, 2013, in Watkins Glen.

Born on September 29, 1949, Dave was the son of the late Maybelle (Betty) Demarest and the late Louis Grenier. He was a master machinist. He owned and operated his own machine shop for many years and produced custom machine parts for area manufacturers. Prior to opening his shop, Dave was a machine shop supervisor at Electro-Metrics. Dave learned his trade at Pioneer Tanning Equipment and Fulton County Machine. Mr. Grenier was a Vietnam War veteran having honorably served in the U.S. Army. David was an artist whose work has been exhibited in Mrs B's Petite Gallerie. As an old steam engine enthusiast, Dave refurbished old engines and also built replicas of Civil War cannons.

Dave is survived by his brother, Burton Demarest (Darlene) of Mayfield, and his cousins Jo-Ann Clear (Patrick), Marjorie Derrico (Vito), Patricia Foster-Morrison (Richard), Toni Christman (Paul) and Steven Foster (Karen), all of Gloversville. He is survived his by his longtime best friend Rick Leotta of Gloversville who was like a brother to him. Also surviving are two nephews Tyler and Jake Demarest.

There will be no calling hours.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14 at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville, with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the charity of one's choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown.
