Motocross event draws 218 riders

CAROGA LAKE - The final Monster Energy Drink motocross race of the season brought 218 riders to Royal Mountain Ski Center on Sunday.

Although local riders turned in podium finishes, Amsterdam's Brandi Hirschfield was the lone winner on the day, taking home top honors in the quad schoolgirl 12- to 16-year-old division.

Whitesboro's Mitch Dougherty, Schaghticoke's John St. Gelais, Pennelville's Dominic Grenga and Averill Park's Dominic Carnibucci all picked up two victories on the day.

Dougherty captured top honors in the 122-open exper and the 122-250 expert divisions, while St. Gelais won the plus 30 and plus 40 amateur divisions.

Grenga topped the field in the 50cc pee wee senior divison for 7 to 8-year-old riders and the 65cc 7-to-9-year-old division. Carnibucci won the 125 2-stroke and open mini 10-to-16-year old division.
