Villages round up alleged drug dealers

FORT?PLAIN?- Nine individuals were arrested this week and search warrants were issued for three others after village police departments in Canajoharie, St. Johnsville and Fort Plain concluded a six-month investigation into drug-dealing.

Police arrested some of the individuals Monday after undercover officers purchased several types of narcotics from them. These include cocaine, liquid morphine, heroin, hydrocodene, oxycodone and Lortab pills.

A news release from the Fort Plain Police Department did not specify which suspects had been arrested or identify what they'd been charged with.

Fort Plain Police Chief Robert Thomas did not return a phone call seeking more information.?Canajoharie Police Chief Bryan MacFadden referred calls to Thomas.?St. Johnsville Police Chief Diana Callen could not be reached.

The news release said the sales were felonies, carrying maximum jail sentences of 15 years or more.

Suspects who were arrested were in village courts and sent to the Montgomery County Jail on $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond.
