Herkimer volleyball goes 2-1 at Niagara

SANBORN - Three area players helped the Herkimer County Community College women's volleyball team to a 2-1 record during pod play at Niagara County Community College on Saturday.

Herkimer defeated Erie Community College 3-1 by scores of 25-18, 25-10 and 25-10 and posted a 3-1 win over Jamestown Community College by scores of 25-22, 21-15, 25-18 and 25-17.

Herkimer lost its only match to host Niagara, 3-2, by scores of 27-25, 17-25, 25-19, 16-25 and 15-9.

Against Erie, Johnstown graduate Brynn Hlozansky had 10 digs, six aces, four kills and three blocks for Herkimer, while Dolgeville graduate Ashley Mettler had six kills and four digs. Johnstown graduate Zara Hyde added 23 assists and four digs for the Lady Generals.

In the win over Jamestown, Hlozansky had 18 kills, 13 digs and two blocks, Mettler had 13 digs and eight kills, and Hyde finished with 40 assists, six digs and four aces.

Against Niagara, Hlozansky had 11 digs and eight kills, Hyde had 27 assists and 10 digs, and Mettler posted 12 digs and five kills.
