JOHNSTOWN - State police said a man was arrested Wednesday after driving onto the lawn of a church.
Ronald?J.?Odell, 65, of Gloversville was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs.
Troopers said they received a report at about 8:55 a.m. Wednesday of an erratic driver on County Highway 122. Upon arrival, troopers said witnesses told them a male driver in a white vehicle entered the parking lot of the First Methodist?Church, almost hitting a female pedestrian, and then drove onto the lawn. The driver then got into the back seat and a female passenger drove the car away, troopers said.
Troopers said they were able to locate and stop the vehicle, a 2001 Buick Century. Odell was in the back seat, troopers said, and admitted he was dizzy from taking prescription medication. Odell said a female friend was driving him home, troopers said.
According to troopers, they administered field sobriety tests to Odell, which he failed. Odell was taken to the state police station in Mayfield for further testing. Odell provided a voluntary urine sample, troopers said, which will be tested at the state police crime lab in?Albany.
Odell was released to a third party.?He is scheduled to appear in Town?Court on Oct. 16.
