H.S. Volleyball Roundup: Gloversville cruises past Amsterdam

GLOVERSVILLE - Jenna Putnam had 11 aces and 11 assists, leading Gloversville to a 3-0 win over Amsterdam in a non-league volleyball match Tuesday at Gloversville High School.

The Huskies won by scores of 25-10, 25-19 and 25-11.

Christina Pavlovsky finished with seven assists for Gloversville (8-3 overall), while Alex Bielli and Kendra St. Andrews each had four kills. Lizzie Peak added four aces for the Huskies.

Cassidy Arocho finished with five assists, three aces and two kills for Amsterdam, while Destiny Smith added five aces and two kills.

Colonial Council

Fonda-Fultonville 3, Holy Names 0

ALBANY - Miranda Nethaway finished with eight service points, eight kills and four aces, leading Fonda-Fultonville to a sweep of Holy Names.

The Lady Braves won by scores of 25-15, 26-24 and 25-7.

Shawna Trigg posted 10 service points and five aces for FFCS (9-2 overall, 9-2 Colonial).

Holy Names slipped to 3-9 overall and 3-7 in Colonial Council play with the loss.

WAC

Fort Plain 3, Saratoga Catholic 2

FORT PLAIN - Emily Potter had 12 kills, 12 digs and five aces to lead Fort Plain to a victory over Saratoga Central Catholic.

The Lady Hilltoppers won by scores of 25-17, 25-22, 23-25, 16-25 and 25-16.

It was the fourth straight win for Fort Plain, which improved to 7-4 overall and 6-4 in WAC play.

Shawna Cotton finished with 18 assists, five digs and four aces for the Lady Hilltoppers, while Cheyann Walters posted seven digs, six kills and six aces. Anganese Gomez recorded six kills, three aces and two blocks for Fort Plain, Alexis Hagadorn posted five digs and four aces, and Brandy Walters had eight assists and five digs. Desiree Suits added four digs for Fort Plain, which defeated Albany Leadership on Monday in a non-league contest.

Liza Orsini had 17 service points and 13 aces for Saratoga Catholic, while Elle Valentine had 15 service points, three aces and three kills. Jamie Delaney posted six service points, five blocks, three kills and two aces for the Saints, Emily Miller had 16 digs, and Anna Leone added 13 digs.

Galway 3, Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville 0

GALWAY - Rachel Sherman finished with 10 service points, six aces and two kills, leading Galway to a Western Athletic Conference victory over Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville.

The Golden Eagles won by scores of 25-13, 25-18 and 25-8.

Lide Larranaga posted 10 points for Galway (10-0 overall, 9-0 WAC), while Emily Zawisa had eight points, six kills and two aces. Rachel Jones added six kills for the Golden Eagles.

Kendell Sweeney finished with eight digs and seven assists for Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville (2-8 overall, 2-8 WAC), while Kyleigh Hayner posted four digs and two kills. Melissa Crapser had four digs and two assists for the Lady Wolves, and Katie Pabis added four digs and three kills.

Canajoharie 3, Schoharie 1

CANAJOHARIE - Shyanna Logan posted 11 service points, 10 kills, three digs and two aces, lifting Canajoharie to a win over Schoharie.

The Lady Cougars won by scores of 15-25, 25-10, 25-17 and 25-20.

Abbey Dearwester finished with 14 assists and six kills for Canajoharie (9-2 overall, 9-2 WAC), while Gracie Adams posted 14 points and seven aces. Shelby Mead recorded six kills and two blocks for the Lady Cougars, and Emma Stortecky added 13 assists.

Grace Gathen finished with 12 points and four kills for Schoharie (6-4 WAC), while Gabbi Danthine added 11 points.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo 3, Mekeel Christian 0

SCOTIA - Shannon Stone finished with 10 aces, six kills, five digs and two blocks, leading Berne-Knox-Westerlo to a sweep of Mekeel Christian Academy.

The Bulldogs won by scores of 25-18, 26-24 and 25-16.

Kathryn Salo had nine digs, four kills and three aces for Berne-Knox-Westerlo, while Sierra Hubbard posted nine digs and three aces. Michaela Horlacher added 15 assists and three digs for the Bulldogs.

Victoria Alteri led Mekeel Christian with 10 service points, five kills and two aces, while Mackenzie Islip had 13 points and four aces.

Clare Nelson finished with 10 points and three kills for Mekeel Christian (0-9 WAC), and Jordan Spawn posted eight points and four kills.
