Gloversville-Mayfield tops Amsterdam

AMSTERDAM - Kylie Cotugno swam for a pair of individual victories and swam legs on two victorious relay teams to lead Gloversville-Mayfield to a 105-70 victory over Amsterdam Thursday at the Lynch Literacy Academy pool.

Cotugno touched the wall first in the 100-yard butterfly (1:10.82) and the 500-yard freestyle (6:20.19). She joined with Emily Towne, Destiny Armstrong, and Sara Curtis for the victory in the 200-yard medley relay and with Jennifer Vickery, Armstrong and Brookelynn Richardson for the 200-yard freestyle relay win. Desiree Ives won the 200-yard freestyle (2:21.04), while Jenna Cordone won the 100-yard freestyle (1:06.34), Vickery won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:26.39) and Armstrong won the 50-yard freestyle (29.89) to round out the individual winners in the pool for Gloversville-Mayfield. Sam McGillis picked up the victory in the 1-meter diving with her score of 121.95.

Swimming to individual victories for Amsterdam were Justine Youngs in the 100-yard backstroke (1:14.12) and Kayla Dzikowicz won the 200-yard individual medley (2:21.04).

On Friday, Amsterdam posted a 106-57 win over Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk at Lynch Literacy Academy.

It was the first victory of the season for the Rams, who improved to 1-6 overall.

Dzikowicz won the 50 freestyle and 500 freestyle for Amsterdam, while Mianna Conti won the 100 freestyle. Gulianna Pritchard added a win in the 100 backstroke for the Rams.

Amsterdam also won the 400 freestyle and 200 medley relays.

Hailey?Morgan (200 individual medley, 100 butterfly) and Gillian Burch (200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke) each won two events for Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk, while Carly Gill (1-meter diving) also posted a win.

Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk also won the 200 freestyle relay.
