FMCC volleyball team goes 2-1

QUEENSBURY - The Fulton-Montgomery Community College women's volleyball team went 2-1 during pod play at SUNY Adirondack on Saturday.

FMCC defeated Hudson Valley Community College, 3-0, by scores of 25-17, 25-6 and 25-15, and posted a 3-0 win over Columbia-Greene Community College by scores of 25-8, 25-4 and 25-3. The Lady Raiders lone loss came against host SUNY Adirondack, which posted a 3-0 win by scores of 25-17, 25-19 and 25-19.

"We played some great volleyball today," FMCC head coach Rachel Salvione said. "Adirondack is a solid team. We held strong but couldn't take control of the game."

Shelbey Lyons (Johnstown) had 50 assists, 17 digs, 15 aces and five kills for FMCC (11-11 overall), while Whitney Ostrander (Mayfield) posted 25 kills, 10 blocks, seven digs and five aces. Elizabeth Hayward (Johnstown) registered 28 digs, 10 kills, seven aces and three blocks for the Lady Raiders, Gabrielle Hale (Johnstown) finished with 12 digs, eight aces and five kills, and Emily Robinson (Northville) posted 18 digs, seven kills and two aces. Sarah Wyzomirski (Fonda-Fultonville) had 10 kills, seven blocks, three digs and one ace for FMCC, Caitlyn Hayward (Johnstown) recorded 45 digs and four aces, and Taylor Wetsky (Fonda-Fultonville) added six kills, five blocks and two digs.
