Herkimer volleyball sixth at regionals

SANBORN - The Herkimer County Community College women's volleyball team placed sixth out of eight teams last weekend at the Region III Championships at Niagara County Community College.

The Generals lost to Jamestown Community College 2-1 by scores of 25-20, 25-15 and 25-21. Herkimer also lost 2-1 to SUNY Adirondack by scores of 25-14, 29-27 and 17-25. Herkimer picked up a 2-1 win over Finger Lakes Community College, winning by scores of 22-25, 25-20 and 25-23.

Johnstown graduate Brynn Hlozansky was named third-team all-region for Herkimer, while Johnstown graduate Zara Hyde was named to the regional all-tournament team.

Against Jamestown, Hlozansky posted nine digs, three kills, two aces and two blocks, while Hyde had 16 assists and eight digs. Dolgeville graduate Ashley Mettler added 11 kills and nine digs for the Generals.

Against Adirondack, Hlozansky finished with 14 digs, three kills and two aces, Hyde posted 12 assists, seven digs, three kills and two aces, and Metter added 14 digs and seven kills.

Against Finger Lakes, Hlozansky had 11 digs and nine kills, Hyde posted 11 assists and 11 digs, and Mettler finished with eight digs and six kills.

Herkimer finished its season with a 24-12 overall record.
