LaPort named Class B West Defensive Player of the Year

Several Broadalbin-Perth and Johnstown football players were among those named to the Section II Class B West Division all-star team.

Broadalbin-Perth lineman Pierre LaPort was named Defensive Player of the Year.

Schalmont quarterback Nick Gallo and Scotia quarterback Dan Zeglen shared the Player of the Year honors, while Schalmont running back Devon Willis was chosen as Offensive Player of the Year.

Broadalbin-Perth had quarterback Zach Morreale, wide receiver Mike Visco, tight end Andre Taylor, and offensive linemen Zach Newfrock and John Costanzo were named first-team Class B West Division all-stars. Taylor also was named to the first-team defense as a lineman for B-P, which went 8-2 and lost to Schalmont in the Section II Class B title game.

Running back Adam Caputo was Johnstown's lone representative on the first-team offense.

West Division champion Schalmont, which was the state Class B runner-up and Section II Class B champion, had wide receiver Hunter Gac, running back Trevon Tucker, kicker Paul Mattick, and offensive lineman Sean MacDonald named to the first-team offense.

Also named to the first-team offensive in the West Division were quarterback Seth Billington (Cobleskill-Richmondville), running backs Quentin Austin (Glens Falls), Matt Davenport (Cobleskill-Richmondville) and Ramair Brown (Scotia-Glenville), and wide receivers Collin Evers (Scotia-Glenville) and Nate Plocharczyk (Glens Falls)

Offensive linemen Logan Barcomb (Hudson Falls), Larry Messer (Schuylerville), Matt Farrell (Glens Falls) and Derrick Knight (Cobleskill-Richmondville), punter Logan Akins (Glens Falls), utility player Trevor Strother (Hudson Falls) kicker Zack Haskin (Cobleskill-Richmondville), and kick returner Marty McCollum (Scotia-Glenville) rounded out the first-team offense.

In addition to Taylor, Broadalbin-Perth also had lineman Phil Hemstreet, linebackers Biagio Bucciferro and Darius Reyes, and defensive backs Jake Coveney and Luigi Magliocca named to the first-team defense.

Defensive back Matt Szurek was Johnstown's lone selection to the first-team defense.

Schalmont had linemen Marcus Ramundo and Evan Dellavilla named to the first-team defense, along with linebackers Kevin Paskevich and Jack Batcher. Defensive backs Kyle Strube, Gac and Mattick were named to the first-team defense for the Sabres.

Also named to the West Division first-team defense were linemen Ryan Bellamy (Scotia-Glenville), Shannon Smith (Scotia-Glenville) and Derrick Knight (Cobleskill-Richmondville), and linebackers Nick Schaub (Scotia-Glenville), Angelo Coppola (Scotia-Glenville) and Seth Billington (Cobleskill-Richmondville).

Broadalbin-Perth running backs Darius Reyes and Luigi Magliocca were named to the second-team offense, along with Morreale, who handled the kicking duties for the Patriots.

Lineman Sam Davis was Johnstown's lone selection to the second-team offense.

Rounding out the second-team offense in the West Division were quarterbacks Will Griffen (Schuylerville) and Zack Infield (Glens Falls), wide receivers Zack O'Dell (Schalmont), Devin Higgins (Schalmont), Cody Dietershagen (Scotia-Glenville) and John Clark (Scotia-Glenville), tight ends Dan Sperbeck (Cobleskill-Richmondville) and Schuyler Eustis (Hudson Falls), running backs Kyle Strube (Schalmont), Geno Brancati (Hudson Falls) and Ire Pinney (Scotia-Glenville), linemen Austin Wetsel (Schalmont), Matt Capovani (Schalmont), Marcus Ramundo (Schalmont), Kevin Paskevich (Schalmont), Zach MacFarland (Cobleskill-Richmondville), Jeff Chiarello (Scotia-Glenville) and Tanner Shufelt (Cobleskill-Richmondville), and kick returner Matt Davenport (Cobleskill-Richmondville).

Broadalbin-Perth defensive back Tyler Schmidt and Johnstown's Marino Fabozzi were named to the second-team defense.

Also earning second-team defensive honors were linemen Nick Richard (Schuylerville), Davis Mobley (Glens Falls), Joe Bulford (Scotia-Glenville), Jim Rolfe (Scotia-Glenville), Santino Salamore (Schalmont), Dom Friello (Schalmont) and Don Thorington (Cobleskill-Richmondville), linebackers Josh Thomas (Schuylerville), Bryan Jackson (Glens Falls), Trevon Tucker (Schalmont) and Matt Davenport (Cobleskill-Richmondville), and defensive backs Colin Duell (Glens Falls), Anthony Bellai (Schalmont), Mike Mushan (Scotia-Glenville) and Brett Sarnowski (Scotia-Glenville).

Reinfurt Division

In the Class B Reinfurt Division, Lansingburgh's Anthony Walker was chosen as the Most Valuable Player. Cohoes' Shelton Alston was named Offensive MVP, while Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk's Carter Ducatte was named Defensive MVP.

Cohoes, which won the Reinfurt Division title, had quarterback Max Carey, fullback John Malulan, wide receiver Nick Ernst, linemen Nick Scott and A.J. Cioffi, and specialist Zaire Folds named to the first-team offense.

Also named to the first-team offense in the Reinfurt Division were running backs Najee Ward (Green Tech) and Austin Zeh (Albany Academy), tight end Craig Brozowski (Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk), wide receivers Jelani Hoyte King (Albany Academy), Raki Johnson (Green Tech) and Darian Blanks (Hudson), and linemen Tyler McDonough (Lansingburgh), Jacob Johnson (Green Tech), Ahil Dawoodani (Albany Academy) and Doug Mark (Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk).

Rounding out the first-team offense were Lansingburgh kicker Noah Cipperly, Albany Academy kickoff specialist Jordan Lockridge, Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk punter Zach Maurer and Green Tech specialist Miguel John.

In addition to their first-team offensive selections, Cohoes also placed linebacker Billy Campbell, lineman Nick Scott and linebacker Brandon LaForest on the first-team defense.

Also named to the first-team defense were linemen Logan Kunkel (Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk), Chris Carter (Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk), Ryan Anderson (Albany Academy) and Mark Sidebury (Green Tech), linebackers Josh Rodriguez (Lansingburgh), Vincent DeCaterino (Albany Academy), Mike Parker (Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk), Eric Razanousky (Ichabod Crane) and Tyler McDonough (Lansingburgh), and defensive backs Herman Thomas (Green Tech), Darian Blanks (Hudson), Jimm D'Lorio (Albany Academy) and David Warnken (Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk).

Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk had quarterback David Warnken, running back Fred Pechette, wide receiver Ian Armina, linemen Logan Kunkel, and returner Jayden Feliciano. Luke Misuraca made the second-team offense as a specialist and lineman for the Indians.

Also named to the second-team offense were quarterbacks David Clark (Green Tech) and Eric Woods (Albany Academy), running back Justin Slater (Hudson), fullback Josh Rodriguez (Lansingburgh), tight ends Everton Higgins (Hudson) and Kevin Roth (Ichabod Crane), wide receiver Brandon LaForest (Cohoes), linemen Chris Eaton (Lansingburgh), Evan Mextorf (Albany Academy), Joe Vandenburgh (Lansingburgh), Kevin Pulver (Ichabod Crane) and Kasiah Morton (Green Tech), returner Brandon McKay (Ichabod Crane), punter Javier Taylor (Green Tech), and specialist Todd Daniell (Hudson).

Linemen A.J. Cioffi (Cohoes), Everton Higgins (Hudson), Kevion Wood (Lansingburgh), Shamear Pin (Green Tech), Doug Mark (Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk), Kyle Hartigan (Albany Academy) and Nathan Gulock (Albany Academy) were named to the second-team defense.

Rounding out the second-team defense were linebackers John Malulan (Cohoes), Trey Nelson, Cohoes), Rob Hearse (Green Tech), Abdullah Shabazz (Hudson), Joe Rivette (Hudson), Andrew Saldinni (Albany Academy), and defensive backs Malacchai Wilburn (Hudson), Raki Johnson (Green Tech), Zeke Thomas (Albany Academy), Travon Alert (Hudson) and Jordan Cloutier (Lansingburgh).
