Akowicz places fifth at Queensbury Invy

LAKE GEORGE - Mayfield's Mitch Akowicz finished fifth Saturday at the Queensbury Invitational nordic ski race.

Akowicz finished with a time of 22:15.

Queensbury's Liam Mulshine won the 7.5k boys race with a time of 19:42, while Saranac Lake's Ethan Wood was second with a time of 19:57.

Queensbury won the boys team title with 13 points, while Glens Falls was second with 52. Mayfield finished ninth with 80 points, while Canajoharie fielded an incomplete team.

Brent Gray was 36th for Mayfield, while Devante Marshall was 39th and Austin Davis was 48th..

Canajoharie's Zach Young was 64th, while Tyler Bell was 65th for the Cougars.

In the 4.8k girls race, Queensbury's Tyra Wynn won with a time of 13:43, while Queensbury's Megan Kellogg was second with a time of 14:16.

Paige Shovelton led Canajoharie, placing 41st with a time of 20:39. Grace Corrigan was 49th for the Lady Cougars with a time of 23:45, while Carolyn Adams (30:20) was 55th.

Queensbury won the girls team title with a total of seven points, while Old Forge was second with 22 points. Canajoharie was 10th with 145 points.
