Raymond J. Hall, age 69, of Galway, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2014, at his residence, with his loving family by his side, after a long battle with cancer. "Uncle Ray" was born in Amsterdam to Lee and Anna Remasuski Hall, and lived in the area his whole life. He was employed by the Town of Galway Highway Department, before retiring in 2006.
Uncle Ray was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt, and trap. He also had a great love for pets. Though he had no children of his own, the immense bonds he shared with his nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, were extraordinary. Uncle Ray knew how to have a good time and always brought a smile to everyone around him.
He is survived by two nieces and their families: Mary and Stephen McChesney, great-niece and nephew, Ashley and Kyle McChesney, Nacole and Herbie Neahr, great-nephew. Brock Neahr; two nephews and their families: James and Sherry Hall, and Bruce and Kathy Hall, great-niece and nephew, Bruce Jr. and Joline Hall. Also two cousins, Robert and William Hall; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Keller. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Hall.
Calling hours will be held at the Richard J. Ryan Funeral Home, 2034 West St., Galway, NY on Saturday, Saturday, March 22, 2014, from 1 to 3 p.m. with a service starting at 3 p.m. Interment will be in the spring at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Saratoga Hospice in Uncle Ray's memory.
