Mary Louise Wilson Miller of Pittsford, New York, wife of the late Calvin A. Miller, died Aug 22, 2014. She was 83.
The daughter of the late William L. Wilson and Blanche Hall Wilson, she was born December 7, 1930, in Gloversville, NY where she grew up. Mary graduated from Gloversville High School and Potsdam University. An elementary school teacher, Mary first taught in Burnt Hills, NY and then was a longtime teacher in the Brighton, NY school district.
Mary lived life to the fullest and deeply loved her family, friends and neighbors. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, love of dogs and cats and her positive spirit. She was an avid reader, enjoyed golf, socializing with her friends, going to the movies, dining out and traveling with Cal. Mary was a longtime volunteer at the James Branch of the Pittsford Public Library and active in the TWIG organization raising money for Rochester General Hospital. After retirement Mary and Cal spent winters in Florida.
Mary is survived by her brothers, William E. Wilson and his wife Marie of Gloversville, Lawrence E. Wilson and his wife Sue of Northville, NY; nieces, Diane Bosch (Eric), Laura Strober (Michael) and Lynsay Wilson; nephews, William F. Wilson (Joni) and Paul Wilson (Sondra); and nine grandnieces and nephews. Mary is also survived by Calvin's daughters, Deb Gray, Jan Miller (Craig Lending), Meg Wilson (Jim); and eight stepgrandchildren. Mary was predeceased by brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dan and Mary Miller.
Family will receive visitors at the Harloff Funeral Home, 803 South Washington St., East Rochester from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2014. A memorial service will immediately follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be private.
