This is for MLA01FtPl,here is the deal,I wouldn't never get caught drinking and driving in perth, because I am a non-drinker,I don't do alcohol,I don't do bar rooms. And My point still stands"Who Cares!"And I do agree that this poll is way to old, let's get onto something else worth talking about.

Its ALL BULLE ANYWAY .SHE ONLY LOSES HER DRIVING LICENCE FOR 90 DAYS WHILE SOME OTHER DRUNK GOES TO JAIL FOR A YEAR.TELL YOU WHAT SHE DIDNT GET ANY SPECIAL TREATMENT DID SHE? SHE SMASHES IN TO A CAR DRUNK, BUT DOESNT GET A RECLESS DRIVING TICKET DID SHE. SHE IS A JUDGE THAT HAS TO JUDGE. BUT SHE DOESNT HAVE TO BE JUDGED DOES SHE. THERE FOR SHE IS A DRUNK JUDGE. SHE CAN STAY ON THE BENCH IF SHE WANTS TO BUT MAKE HER DO COMMUNITY SERVICE AND WORK FOR FREE FOR A YEAR INSTEAD OF A JAIL SENTENCE.

This is for Polarisprinces-- the other guy may of had a revoked license and of course if it was from a previous dwi then it would be a problem but the issue here is not that she was drinking and driving (which she shouldn't have) but the fact that her position allows her to judge people who does the same thing.. how can you judge something that you did and basically got a slap on the wrist for.. if the other guy was a traffic judge then this question would be about him also. This is for Lisad-- we would "mine our own busioness" when its not a public elected official that commits a crime until then I think we are "mining our own business" Lastly for Fenny23-- Leader Herald is a local newspaper that should deal with local pathetic politicians- as you said- everyone else is covering the pathetic state politicians. Like Spitzer- a crime was committed by an elected official and the crime should be answered to.. unlike Spitzer- this judge is a low life that doesn't ste

Our elected officials are supposed to be held to a higher standard. Gov. Spitzer prosecuted prostitute rings. He got busted, now they are calling for him to step down. So should Bonnie Simpson-Burke, since she makes determinations on DWIs. Why do we have to settle for less, lets get good honest people in government.

Most definitly she should step down. How can a person enforcing the law be known to break a law. It would just be enforcing people's judgement that a person with power can do what they want but the average guy has to follow the rules. Not a good thing for our young to see. Yes pro;e make mistakes but this one could be deadly.

Can you imagine standing in front of Bonnie in an alchohol related case and receiving more of a fine/sentence than she received? "Hmmm - let me see, did you blow higher than I did?"

This poll has been up for a week. Shouldn't it be changed to a question about the resignation of Gov. Spitzer like every other newspaper and media outlet in this state?

I THINK PEOPLE NEED TO FIND SOMETHING BETTER TO DO AND MORE IMPORTANT TO DWELL ON. IT IT WAS U OR ME IT WOULD BE IN THE PAPER ONCE AND THEN NEVER HEAR ABT IT AGAIN. IM NOT SAYING IT WAS ACCEPTABLE BUT COME ON ALREADY. THIS ISNT 9-ELEVEN. WE ARE ALL HUMAN AND MAKE MISTAKES. AND WHO KNOWS WHAT THE REAL TRUTH IS ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED. THE OTHER GUY HAD A REVOKED LICENSE. PROBABLY FROM A DWI SO WHAT MAKES HIM ANY BETTER. I DONT SEE HIS NAME IN THE PAPER EVERYDAY

Responding to DuVall's comments. It is true she did not "rob a bank" however she could have killed some one which in my view is much worse than robbing a bank. C'mon, use some common sense!

She let us down, she's in a public position and she should do the right thing and resign.

Yes she is human, and yes she made a mistake, however with her position comes greater responsibility and a duty to uphold the law while she is acting as a judge and also in her personal life. When she became a public figure, even in a small town such as Perth, she signed up to be in the public eye, and knew that her actions would be weighed more heavily than a common citizens. Out of respect for the law and the nature of her positions, she should step down. Thankfully no one was pysically hurt by her mistake. She of all people should know better! It's not just a matter of her being a good judge, but it more a matter of her being a good role model and a representation of the law which she makes judgments based on.

Those in a position of judging others should be like Caesar's wife - "beyond reproach". If Simpson-Burke did not have the good judgment to have a "designated (non-drinking) driver with her, can the public trust her judgment on other matters?

Oh for goodness sakes! She didn't rob a bank. As a human being she made a mistake and realizes it. Besides the punishment the courts gave her, she will have to live with the ridicule and condemnation of the citizens who figure they are above making mistakes. Ever hear the cheering of the masses when those on the pedestal stumble and fall? Lest ye be judged!

Think about it. Everyone makes mistakes. Perhaps the fact that Ms. Simpson-Burke made the same mistake that so many people make, she may have a new perspective on the current situation. I'm almost 55 years old. Back when I was 18 and it was legal for me to drink, DUI and DWI were phrases that no-one had ever heard of. It's simply the evolution of society. Cut this woman a break. If she's a good town justice, there is no reason to replace her. If there are shaky judgements, maybe some further investigation is necessary. Use your BRAIN before judging.

I BELIEVE ANYONE INVOLVED IN AN ALCOHOL RELATED INCIDENT SHOULD NOT BE JUDGING OTHER ALCOHOL RELATED INCIDENCES AS SHE COULD NOT ACT INPARTIALLY.
