H.S. Softball Roundup: Mayfield holds off Johnstown, 10-9

JOHNSTOWN — Jillian Botch had two home runs to power Mayfield to a 10-9 victory over Johnstown in a non-league softball game at Johnstown High School on Tuesday.

Botch also had a single and finished with four RBIs for the Lady Panthers (3-2 overall), while Kelsey Meca had two singles. Katie LaGrange added a single for Mayfield and Taryn LaFontaine had a double and scored a run.

Joelle Bump had three home runs and six RBIs for Johnstown (0-1 overall), while Grace Giarrizzo had a home run, two singles and two RBIs. Megan O’Connell had a single and scored twice for the Lady Bills.

Bishop Gibbons 7, Canajoharie 0

CANAJOHARIE — Jailene Santiago threw a four-hit shutout to lead Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons to a WAC victory over Canajoharie.

Santiago also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and an RBI for the Lady Knights.

Hope Hiscock had two hits and two RBIs for Bishop Gibbons, while Taylor VanAuken went 3-for-3 with a triple.

Mackenzie Bowerman had two doubles for Canajoharie, while Mollie Krug and Monica Hartlieb each had singles.

Canajoharie is scheduled to travel to Herkimer today for a non-league contest.

GALWAY — Michaela Stockwell struck out 16 and allowed just two hits in seven innings to lead Fort Plain-Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville to a WAC victory over Galway.

Stockwell also had two singles and two RBIs for FP-OESJ (3-1 overall, 2-0 WAC), while Fontana LaCoppola had a single and two RBIs.

Emma Smith and Hannah Hoffman each had singles for Galway (2-3 overall, 2-2 WAC).

The Golden Eagles are scheduled to host Northville on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

DUANESBURG — Caitlin Menzies was 4-for-4 with two doubles and two singles to power Duanesburg to a WAC victory over Schoharie.

Maddie Kenney and Tori Passono each had doubles for the Eagles.

Maddy Bland had a single and a double for Schoharie.

Duanesburg (2-2 overall) is scheduled to travel to Fort Plain to face Fort Plain-Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville today at 4:30 p.m.

Saratoga Catholic 4, Gloversville 0

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Molly O’Reilly pitched a two-hitter to lead Saratoga Central Catholic to a non-league victory over Gloversville.

O’Reilly struck out five and walked none in seven innings for the Saints.

Megan Cornell had a double and three RBIs for Saratoga Catholic (3-2 overall).

Michaela Ponticello had two singles for Gloversville (1-5 overall).

BOLTON — Emily Shepard had two doubles to help Northville to a non-league victory over Bolton-Schroon Lake.

Shepard also earned the win in the circle for the Lady Falcons (1-3 overall).

Katelyn VanAuken had a double for Bolton-Schroon Lake (2-2 overall).
