Johnstown’s Knox Field on track for mid-September completion

JOHNSTOWN - Johnstown’s Knox Field, which closed for repair this summer, is on track to be completed by the mid-September target date, district Superintendent William Crankshaw said. The repairs are part of the $2 million capital project approved by district voters in May. Funding came from the district’s Construction Capital Reserve Fund. The first phase of the project was completed last summer when the turf athletic field was replaced. David Halloran, superintendent of Gloversville Enlarged School District, was the district’s top earner for the 2022-23 school year. His earnings amount to $189,932, a $3,024 jump from his base salary of $186,908, according to data provided by the district through a Freedom of Information Law Request. The additional $3,024 for Halloran comes from unused vacation time, he said. In total, $245,486 were budgeted for the position, including benefits. LOUDONVILLE -- A collection of memories on poster boards greeted those arriving for Bishop Emeritus Howard J. Hubbard’s funeral on Friday, held at St. Pius X Church in Loudonville.Sepia-tinged 1940s family photographs featuring the retired bishop alongside his sister Joan and recent snaps with friends dotted the boards outside of the chapel. Some cried, some took in all 84 years represented by the photos. Family members, friends, local and traveling Catholics, gathered on Friday to commemorate the life of Albany’s longest serving bishop. The Fonda-Fultonville Central School District FFA will hold its first ever 5K race to raise money for the club’s competition trips.
