Find your new career at FMCC

For The Leader-Herald

Did you just graduate from college. Have you been working in different jobs since high school? Are you ready for a change? At FM, we can design an individualized path that fits your vision and career aspirations.

Our Individual Studies certificates and degrees will focus on the individual, as each path for each student is different. We will look at your past education and/or work experience to build a certificate that enhances your ability to find employment. We work with area businesses to design programs that will turn you into a well-qualified applicant.

Flexibility is the key with a program like this as the majority of our enrolled students are over the age of 21. Individual Studies combines off-campus “hands-on” experience with on-campus related instruction. Students learn as they train with a company or organization for approximately 12 hours/week.

Our current programs range our from industry sectors including heath care, management, manufacturing, and cannabis. This fall we became the first higher education institution to offer Cannabis Certificates in the region. Vireo Health Inc. has partnered with FM to build these certificates as they are anticipating more than tripling its employee size in 2022.

Cultivation Technician will teach students to perform duties relating to the tending of plants including watering, potting, training, and movement of plants materials. Students will be able to apply irrigation and fertilization to plants.

Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician will teach students to assist the manufacturing team in the production of cannabis based medicines in a clean lab environment. Technician duties can focus on various delivery formats such as vape, cartridges, tincture bottles, tablets, soft gels and other portioned delivery forms.

Our Individual Studies program has an easy process to apply:

• Apply to FMCC via our free online application and choose Individual Studies as your major.

• Send us your official H.S. transcripts or a copy of your TASC (GED) diploma and scores.

• After acceptance, our admissions team with contact you with the next steps to apply specifically for our competitive programs within Individual Studies.

We encourage all students looking to apply for the spring semester to apply soon as we are now beginning to accept students into these programs. We also offer in-person or virtual meetings with admissions counselors who can offer more information.
