AMSTERDAM — St. Mary’s Healthcare recently announced the promotions of a pair of longtime staffers to senior leadership roles.
Patricia “Trish” Sanders, formerly vice president of nursing and chief nursing officer, will take on the more expansive role of vice president of operations and chief operating officer.
“Trish is an inspirational leader with proven talents for identifying best practices and creating areas of improvement in support and clinical practice throughout the communities we serve,” said Scott Bruce, president and CEO of St. Mary’s Healthcare, in a prepared statement.
In her new role, Sanders will continue leading laboratory, medical imaging and cardiopulmonary services. She will also oversee behavioral health, facilities, biomedical engineering, environmental services and emergency management.
After 16 years at St. Mary’s, Bruce said the organization is fortunate to have Sanders’ continued guidance over operations in a senior leadership position.
The resulting opening will be filled by the promotion of Raquel “Rocky” Parisi to vice president of nursing and chief nursing officer.
Parisi has held a variety of roles of increasing responsibility throughout her 41 years at St. Mary’s. Most recently, she was senior director of clinical practice and worked closely with Sanders throughout the pandemic.
“Rocky is a trusted and respected leader with the passion, clinical competencies and extensive nursing leadership experience to support a dedicated workforce and foster continuous quality improvement,” Sanders said in a prepared statement.
In the new role, Parisi will provide clinical and administrative leadership organizing, directing, monitoring and evaluating patient care.
“Rocky is committed to our mission of promoting wellness and providing the highest quality of care to all we serve,” Sanders said. “She has a gift for recognizing the holistic needs of the community we serve and our associates.”
The advancing hospital administrators will join the company of another newly minted leader at the organization when Jeffrey Methven assumes the role of president and CEO of St. Mary’s later this month.
Methven will succeed Bruce, who is retiring after more than 25 years serving at St. Mary’s, which culminated in his appointment to the top leadership post in spring 2020.
The St. Mary’s Healthcare Board of Trustees announced Methven’s selection last month at the conclusion of a monthslong nationwide search. He worked at Saratoga Hospital for nearly 20 years, most recently holding as executive vice president since 2020.
