Airbrush tattoo studio opens in Johnstown

JOHNSTOWN – A new business downtown is offering what owner Wayne Marvin calls a “fun and pain free way” for kids and adults to express themselves.

Colonial City Airbrush, owned and operated by Marvin, opened earlier this month at 41 W. Main St.

Colonial City is an airbrush temporary tattoo studio offering hundreds of designs for anyone who likes the look of a tattoo but not the commitment and pain that go along with it.

Using airbrush tools, Marvin creates designs in a variety of colors and sizes.

“It’s for whatever occasion you want,” Marvin said, adding that airbrush tattoos are especially good for people who want a temporary tattoo to show off during a beach vacation.

The cheapest design is $3, and they typically last about a week. The paints smell like cotton candy, and they’re waterproof and smearproof and can be applied almost anywhere on the body, Marvin said.

“Why settle for the same tattoo forever when you can change your look all the time,” according to a brochure provided by Marvin.

Marvin’s new business is occupying a completely redone space that was vacant for several years.

“I chose downtown Johnstown because there’s always something going on on Main Street or over in the park,” Marvin said. He said he chose a name that reflects historic Johnstown.

Marvin’s business offers group rates for parties for kids and adults. Business hours are Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., closed Sundays.
