AMSTERDAM — Liberty ARC, the Montgomery County Chapter of The Arc New York, is recently announce the appointment of Karl Cote as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
In this position, Cote will be a part of Liberty ARC’s senior leadership team where he will assist in the development of the organization’s long-term goals, strategies, plans and policies. He will be responsible for providing leadership, development and administration of the financial operation that supports Liberty ARC and its subsidiaries.
Cote comes to Liberty ARC with more than two decades of experience in executive management, strategic planning, finance and fundraising. He joins the organization from St. Peter’s Health Partners, where he served as the Executive Director and the Chief Development Officer for more than 17 years. During his time at St. Peter’s, Cote led fund raising of more than $66 million in charitable contributions, he spearheaded the development of strategic planning that more than doubled annual campaign revenue and he initiated the first ever Comprehensive Capital Campaign which exceeded the goal of raising $20 million two years earlier than planned.
Cote received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Siena College. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE).

Cote will be filling the position of CFO Barbara Ganey, who is retiring from the agency after 6 years. Ganey will be staying on for a two month transition period to work with Cote.

We will miss her dearly, but I know Liberty ARC will continue to build upon the achievements we have seen during her time here.”
“After a 45-year career in financial management for not-for-profit organizations both in New York and Massachusetts, the last six of which were with Liberty, I’m happy to pass the baton to Karl Cote,” Ganey said in the release. “I’m setting my sights now on enjoying my three grandchildren and resuming my music activities locally and in New York City — post pandemic, of course.”
