Home for women holds meeting

JOHNSTOWN – The Willing Helpers Home for Women conducted their monthly meeting on Feb. 18, a news release said.

Before the meeting began, the board met and welcomed new resident Eleanore Cook to the home.

The business meeting began with a prayer. A presentation was given by the home’s insurance agent Dominic Gallo explaining the policy’s coverage.

Director Tammy Kruger gave her monthly report on the status of the home and the residents. There are two February birthdays, Marguerite Henry and Alma Avery, to be celebrated next week. Birthdays are celebrated with a meal chosen by the celebrant and flowers from the board.

Activities this month included a Valentine’s party with entertainment by Fran and Frank. The Rusty Bits performed on Valentine’s Day as well. Daily activities and church services continue to be enjoyed by the residents. Board members Nelva Teabout, Phyllis Frederick, Mary Jo Argotsinger and Nancy VanDenburgh hold a special book reading session each month which sometimes may include singing songs familiar to the residents, a news release said. Frederick reads the poems written by resident Alma Avery.

The secretary and treasurer’s reports were read and the other committee reports were given as well, the release said.

The slate of officers for 2016 are as follows: Darla Oathout, first vice president, Nelva Teabout, second vice president, Eileen Shirey, secretary, Meredith Lord, corresponding secretary, and Kathy Mickel, treasurer, the release said.

The advisory board consists of Phillip Beckett CPA, Daniel Ehle, Louis Pollack, attorney Brett Preston, Gregory Thomas, William Pollack and Richard Ruby, the release said.
