Learn shadow weave at workshop

BENSON – The Sacandaga Valley Arts Network announced a workshop, Shadow Weave and Name-draft Overshot, will take place on Thursdays, March 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31, at Deerhaven Studio, 130 North Road.

The workshop will be led by Arlene Rambush, a news release said.

The sessions will take place from 1 to 4 p.m.

Overshot weave derives from twill structure in the threading draft and is woven as a combination of plain weave ground with twill-treadled pattern weft. In this class, students may choose to explore four-shaft shadow weave twill and/or advancing twill before working a name-draft project in overshot (with or without shadow weave incorporated). In each session, students will gain experience in working with blocks, drawdowns and manipulating drafts.

Experience with twill and overshot drafts required.

The cost of tuition is $155. For SVAN members, the cost is $150. Loom use and supplies are included. People can bring their own four-shaft table loom.
