GALWAY – Galway High School Senior Quinn Smith was recently selected to participate in the All-State Chorus Festival Dec. 1 through 4, in Rochester, according to a news release. He was chosen out of thousands of students from across New York state.
Smith believes his selection was based on his performance of “Hear Me Ye Winds and Waves” at the NYSSMA Festival. “I got 100 on a level six,” he said.
According to the news release, Smith, a bass 2 vocalist, has been in chorus since elementary school and began taking private voice lessons in seventh grade. He also plays piano, guitar, and trombone. He participates in chorus and band in the High School, along with soccer, basketball, and baseball.
“This is a special honor, which doesn’t happen every year for Galway,” said Gary Barrow, director of bands at Galway Central School District in the news release. “It is wonderful that our school will be represented. Congratulations to Quinn.”
“I think it’s going to be a great experience,” said Smith in the release.
