MAYFIELD — Five Mayfield Central School District students have received awards in the Northeastern New York Region of the 2016-17 eSchoolData Login Page Art Contest, according to a news release.
They are Brenna VanNostrand, first place; Sara Albright, second place; Sierra Luck, third place; and Gracie Fonda and Cassandra Woodcock, both honorable mentions.
Participating districts’ entries were accepted from December 2016 through January 2017, with the finalists selected by various regional information centers. This year, the Northeastern winners were decided via online voting by eSchoolData’s Twitter and Facebook followers in mid-June, the news release said.
Contestants are required to submit works of art that focused on a specific theme relative to current educational topics. This year’s theme is Art in STEM and challenges students to show how the principles and aesthetics of art are incorporated into and reflected in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, the news release said.
The first-place winner’s entry will appear as the background image on the eSchoolData login page at https://esd.eschooldata.com/Login.aspx, and the eSD Parent Portal and Student Portal login pages, with the release of version 5.5 in July 2017, until the next regional winner is announced.
All winning submissions are published on the eSchoolData website at www.eschooldata.com/artists-gallery.
