NORTHVILLE — The Northville Rotary Foundation will present a wooden antique medical cabinet to the highest bidder as the group’s 2017 fundraiser.
The reportedly custom-made piece, on display throughout the summer at William Coffey Studio on 322 N. Third St., has an estimated value of $3,500, according to a foundation news release. The piece will be awarded to the highest bidder at an event to be announced at a later date.
The Northville Rotary Club established its charitable foundation “to serve the communities of the Greater Sacandaga Lake Region through the improvement of health, the support of education, the alleviation of poverty and the betterment of the communities.”
Once fully funded, the foundation will look to invest with the community to help generate economic growth for the area as well as promote projects that improve the well-being of the community.
The foundation is working on the first-phase goal of raising $100,000 to establish an endowment that sustains itself with investments and contributions from Rotary members, the Sacandaga community and various fundraising projects, the news release said.
Recent fundraisers included the sale of a sailboat constructed by Rotary members and Sacandaga community residents, as well as the sale of a donated outboard motor.
Additionally, as part of this first-phase goal, the foundation is encouraging additional gifts of this nature.
Arrangement for these gifts can be made with Charles Owens, president of the foundation, at (518) 332-4266. The foundation also seeks to be included in year-end contributions that mesh with an individual’s tax strategies. As a foundation, donations and contributions are tax-deductible, according to the news release.
The foundation is a part of the Northville Rotary Club and encourages community participation in all of its projects, the news release said.
