New principal for Canjo school

CANAJOHARIE — Christopher DePaolo, formerly of the Gloversville Central School District, will be the new Canajoharie Middle School principal starting with the 2017-18 school year, the Canajoharie Central School District has announced.

The board of education unanimously approved the appointment on Thursday, Aug. 10.

DePaolo was formerly the Gloversville middle school assistant principal this past academic year. He replaces Mark Rauch who has returned to teaching.

DePaolo was selected from a pool of more than 30 applicants after a three-stage search process, which included input from district administrators, middle school teachers and staff, and parents of current middle school students.

“We welcome Mr. DePaolo to our district. He is a career-long middle school educator who understands the importance of middle-level education, which serves as the bridge between elementary and high school,” said Canajoharie Superintendent Deborah Grimshaw.

DePaolo lives with his wife and three daughters in Little Falls.
