ADK Bridge Club plays at library
JOHNSTOWN — The Adirondack Bridge Club played the Mitchell Movement on Nov. 20 at the at the Johnstown Public Library.
The north-south winners were first place, Poppy Kiernan and Doris McIntosh; second place, Arlene Comstock and John Chrisman; third place, Carol Brookins and Debbie Brown.
The east-west winners were first place, Sheila Sammons and Conniejo Dicruttalo; second place, Chloe Correll and Mary Jane Fredericks; third place, Lois Widdemer and Gretchen Haight.
Hand chime choir to play at senior meeting
BROADALBIN — The Broadalbin Senior Citizens met on Nov. 15, at the First Presbyterian Church, Broadalbin with 35 members present. The prayer was offered by Mary Peck with June Zea leading in the Pledge of Allegiance. The meeting was called to order by Vice President June Zea. Linda Gray gave the secretary’s report and Jennifer Gilston gave the treasurer’s report.
Robert Rosenzweig announced that on Nov. 29, children’s hand chime choir from the Broadalbin-Perth School District will be performing after the meeting. He also stated that 350 Christmas cards were sent out to the deployed military.
The 50-50 raffle was won by Sandy Blodgett.
The next senior meeting will be on Nov.29.
The trip committee announced upcoming trips.

50-55 club plans Christmas party
GLOVERSVILLE — The Gloversville 50-55 Plus Seniors meet at 1 p.m. every Monday at the Senior Citizen Service Center of Gloversville and Fulton County, 53 Church St. The club is always looking for new members and any senior can stop by.
Dec. 3, will be the club Christmas party at Harold’s Restaurant with entertainment by the Sophisticats, raffles and prizes.
Dec. 4, at 1 p.m. will be a business meeting. The December and January birthdays will be honored with cake and refreshments. The raffle drawings (number two and three) for December and January will also take place.
Dec. 11, a social meeting at 1 pm. with refreshments.
Dec. 18, at 12:30 pm. a Christmas music program by Gloversville students school chorus. There will be refreshments of Christmas cookies baked by club members — open to all seniors to attend.
Dec. 25, no meeting on the Christmas holiday.
There will be no meetings for the month of January 2018.
Nick Stoner Seniors plan Dec. trip
CAROGA LAKE — The Nick Stoner Seniors held their Thanksgiving harvest luncheon on Nov. 21, at the club. Everyone brought a covered dish. Barbara Belton said a prayer of thanks before lunch. The meeting followed. Grace Eglin, president, opened the meeting at 1:30 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance and Hello to friends and Neighbors.
The secretary report was given by Marion Snell and accepted. The treasure report was given by Shirley Holliday and accepted. The hospitality report was given by Jean Griffin.
The refreshment committee for Dec. 19, meeting will be Snell, Donna Frank and Jeannine Schwartz.
The pen pal report was given by Janice Mclaughlin. The seniors had lunch with their pen pals on Nov. 16. at the Wheelerville Union Free School.
Eglin gave the trip report. On Dec. 5, will be the trip to The Log Cabin, Holyoke, Mass. The bus will leave Johnstown McDonald’s at 8:30 a.m. and leave Caroga Town Hall at 9 a.m.
In correspondence, a thank you card was received from Olen Costello, a third grade student at Wheelerville Union Free School for the dictionary that he received from the group.
In new business, David Nielson discussed putting together a petition and sending it around for the concerns of the rising cost of fees that it is costing seniors to have a landline in their home and presenting it to their senator.
Mclaughlin sold raffle tickets and took attendance. There were 34 members and six guests present.
The meeting adjourned.
After the meeting, the group held their 50-25-25 raffle. The winners were Alice Loux and Vicky Hayner. Jean Griffin and Barbara MacFee made candle centerpieces for the tables and they were all raffled after the meeting. Martha Mongato made a Christmas wreath that was raffled off after the meeting which was won by John Duesler.
The next meeting is Dec. 19, and Holliday will be taking dues for next year. Anyone who would like to join the club is welcome to come to the Caroga Town Hall at noon.
Sacandaga Task Force plans events
NORTHVILLE — The Sacandaga Task Force for Senior Living has a program each week at the Red Rooster Cafe (Pink Chicken), Corner of Bridge and Main streets.
On Thursday, the Red Rooster Cafe will hosted April Rando, dispute resolution coordinator from Catholic Charities of Fulton, Montgomery, Schoharie counties, who will discuss dispute resolution strategies and the services offered by the Dispute Resolution Program.
Chair yoga, taught by Ony Antonucci, will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. each Thursday. The cost of classes is $5 per week or six sessions for $25. Those interested can join in anytime; call (518) 863-2168.
The blood pressure clinics are the fourth Thursday each month by Home Health Care Partners. Also card and board games will follow the scheduled presentation on the fourth Thursday each month.
The weekly congregate meal is served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Those participating can attend the Red Rooster programs without attending the meal or bring a bag lunch.
People who want the Office for the Aging meal can call OFA at (518) 736-5650 to make lunch reservations; if unable to attend the luncheon, call OFA to cancel the meal. If the OFA meal site is closed, there will be no program at the Red Rooster Cafe that day.

Today: Open art class — $6 donation, 9 a.m.; coffee hour, 9:30 a.m.; 50-55 Plus Club meeting-activities, 1 p.m.
Tuesday: Tuesday’s Breakfast Program and coffee hour — $3 donation (scrambled eggs, toast, sausages) 9:30 a.m.; Coloring Book Club — free — open to all, 11 a.m.
Wednesday: Free yoga class (donations appreciated), 9 a.m.; coffee hour, 9:30 a.m.; open loom knitting, 11 a.m.; Wednesday Noontime Vittles Program — $3 donation (grilled turkey cheeseburgers on a bun, French fries, vegetables, homemade apple pie), noon; join in decorating a number of trees to be placed around the center — music and warm beverage, 1 p.m.
Thursday: Coffee hour, 9:30 a.m.; free bread pass out, 10 a.m.
Friday: Coffee hour, 9:30 a.m.; Writers Circle, 11 a.m.
Saturday: Breakfast Nook Program — $3 donation (hot scrambled eggs, toast, sausages, fruit, homemade muffins), 9 a.m.; pick up a free card or two to send out to someone special.
