Local resident celebrated 100th birthday on Saturday

PERTH — Cecil Daggett is celebrated his 100th birthday. Born on Jan. 26, 1919 in the town of Perth, Daggett graduated from Perth High School in 1937. he worked on his father’s dairy farm as a young man after graduating from Amsterdam Business School in 1938.

Daggett and his brother, James, owned and operated Daggett Brothers General Store through 1957 in the town of Perth.

Daggett was married to Lillian J. Austin  on June 8, 1940 and remained married for 72 years until Lillian passed away. 

Daggett  was an very active member of the Perth Bible Church and spent his entire life working for Jesus. 

He was the Perth Town Clerk and a councilman for the town of Perth for a total of 38 years.  Daggett worked at the General Electric Company in  Schenectady until his early sixties when he retired to take care of his mother and father and his wife until her passing.  Daggett has four sons, Thomas Daggett (Tyracie), Dr. Willard Daggett (Bonnie) and Jon Daggett (Connie) and son, Paul, who was killed in an automobile accident in 1965.
