Caroga Arts to hold photo contest

CAROGA LAKE — The Caroga Arts will be having its first annual photography contest. The entries are open to the public and can be made at www.carogaarts.org/photo-contest, which provides complete details and submission guidelines. The deadline for submission is 11:59 p.m. Nov. 22, and the winners will be announced on Feb. 14, according to a news release.

The prizes will be awarded for first place and runner up in four categories, and the People’s Choice Award, and will be published in the first annual 2021-22 CA calendar, which celebrates the Centennial Celebration of the former Sherman’s Amusement Park and the 10th season of the Caroga Lake Music Festival. The monthly calendar will run from June 2021 through May 2022.

The winning entries will be displayed at an exhibition at the Sherman’s location in July 2021 and auctioned at the CA annual gala on July 24. The artists will receive half of the auctioned price of the photo. The winners are responsible for providing framed submissions for the exhibition. All winners and honorable mention photos will be featured on the website.

The categories for the photo contest include life in Caroga Lake (how people live and work at Caroga Lake), the Sherman’s experience (anything and everything related to the former historic SAP), Caroga Arts Artists and events (featuring CA artists and events), and nature in Caroga (the beauty of nature in the area including wildlife, landscape, lakes, and more). Photographers can enter up to eight digital images for inclusion in the contest, two for each category.

The following is the Caroga Arts Collective.

∫ The contest supports the CAC with its mission to reignite the Caroga experience through interdisciplinary and inter-arts collaborations among musicians, artists, scholars, and their communities.

∫ The CA seeks to bring together a community of artists across fields and genres on many types of projects.
