GJSD students start virtual classroom studies

JOHNSTOWN — Students in the Greater Johnstown School District are set to start graded classroom learning again today through virtual classrooms. GJSD Superintendent Karen Geelan said the teachers have created Google Classrooms for learning during the extended closure. Until today, parents were sent reminders to use the online assignments or to pick up work packets at the school. But those assignments were not graded. Starting today, the assignments will be graded. 28 students positive for coronavirus after trip

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — More than two dozen University of Texas students have tested positive for the coronavirus after taking a spring break trip to Mexico, public health officials said. A group of about 70 people who are in their 20s took a chartered plane to Cabo San Lucas about 10 days ago, the Austin Public Health Department said Tuesday. COVID-19 deaths climb in the state

NEW YORK — New York City’s coronavirus death toll surpassed 1,000 on Tuesday as an overwhelmed health system embraced the arrival of hundreds of additional paramedics, EMTs and ambulances.
