CAROGA LAKE – Sherman’s Park Car Show returns to Caroga Lake this Thursday.
After being postponed twice this summer, Sherman’s Park Car Show will run from 4-8 p.m. Aug. 31, at Sherman’s Amusement Park, 2064 New York Highway 10 in Caroga Lake.
The event brings as many as 200 unique and vintage cars, and several hundred spectators, said event organizer and director Bill Schroeder.
“The transition from day to night is really remarkable on the beautiful cars that are all waxed up,” Schroeder said. “It’s a beautiful lake, and a great time of year.”
The event is like stepping back in time, Schroeder said. The old Sherman’s Park carousel, and the old cars are lit up, he said.
“In a sense it’s like remembering the past the way it used to be,” Schroeder said.
Unlike many car shows that are in a field or parking lot, many cars in the Sherman’s Park Car Show are displayed around the lake, the Ferris wheel, and the carousel, making it very picturesque, Schroeder said.
“There will be food and beverages, and entertainment, a DJ, just come and enjoy, it’s something a lot of folks haven’t seen before,” Schroeder said.
The first 150 cars will receive dash plaques, and 30 cars will win trophies.
