AMSTERDAM – Five Amsterdam residents were charged after a fight broke out Wednesday at the Walmart store on Route 30.

Police said Brittany C. Bottomley, 16, Tammy L. Bottomley, 37, John V. Bottomley, 32, Brianna N. Riley, 18, and Demontavius D. Collins, 21, all were charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and endangering the welfare of a child.

One of the women was holding a 10-month-old girl at the time, police said. A store employee secured the baby during the fight, while other employees broke up the incident.

Video evidence showed the 10-month-old being placed in harm’s way several times, almost being struck with a bottle, according to police. The incident was reported to New York State Child Protective Services.

All five people charged were issued appearance tickets and released on their own recognizance.
