JOHNSTOWN – A service was planned for 12:30 p.m. today at the Fulton-Montgomery Community College theater to remember professor Varghese Devassy Pynadath, who died Monday.
Pynadath taught at the college for the last 46 years, and was one of the longest serving professors in the college’s 50-year existence.
President Dusty Swanger said Pynadath led many initiatives on the campus.
“He will be remembered for a long and distinguished service,” Swanger said. “He didn’t only teach physics and engineering, but he was also the dean of arts and sciences. He was the adviser for international students at one time in his career, so he served many roles on our campus. He chaired the Academic Standards Committee … He helped bring the college to where it is today.”
Calling hours are planned for 4 to 7 p.m. today at Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher St. A service is planned for noon Friday at Holy Trinity Church, 207 Glebe St.
