PERTH -A woman is facing several charges after authorities say she nearly hit a Fulton County sheriff’s deputy with a reportedly stolen vehicle.
Leslie Davis, 43, of 251 Church St., Amsterdam, was charged Sunday by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office with reckless endangerment, operating a motor vehicle without headlights and failure to comply.
Additional charges of criminal possession of stolen property are pending, deputies said in a news release.
Deputies said they received an alert regarding a stolen vehicle in the city of Amsterdam.
Deputies on patrol near the Fulton County line saw a vehicle that fit the reported stolen vehicle’s description.
Deputies said it was being driven without the headlights lit on County Highway 132 in the town.
Deputies stopped the vehicle at about 8:20 p.m., according to the release.
As they approached the vehicle, the driver sped away and nearly hit a deputy.
Deputies said they saw the vehicle shortly after the first stop on Green Acres Road in the town. Deputies said they followed a set of footprints from the vehicle into a wooded area where they found Davis.
The vehicle was turned over to Amsterdam Police detectives.
Davis was arraigned in Town Court and was sent to Fulton County Jail on $5,000 cash bail.
Deputies Wayne Peters and Scott McCoy made the arrest. Members of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office also were on scene.
