JOHNSTOWN – The city is bringing back the former Johnstown Memorial Day Parade this year after a one-year absence.
Mayor Sarah Slingerland told the Common Council Monday night the city has budgeted $1,000 to assist with the parade. She said city Fire Chief Bruce Heberer is heading up a committee to hold the parade again, possibly May 24.
The city didn’t hold the parade in 2012 after former chief organizer and volunteer Ruth B. White began experiencing health problems. The 85-year-old White died June 28 at the Wells Nursing Home.
