JOHNSTOWN – A Mayfield man convicted of burglary was sentenced Wednesday in Fulton County Court to a year in the county jail.
Austin L. Nellis, 18, of 1181 Route 30, Mayfield, was sentenced by Judge Polly A. Hoye as part of a plea arrangement.
Sentencing was based on the defendant’s Jan. 30 guilty plea to one count of third-degree burglary.
Nellis was arrested Nov. 20 by Gloversville police and charged with second-degree burglary and petit larceny.
An investigation revealed he and a co-defendant – Joshua S. Hodgson, 31, of 52 S. Judson St. – burglarized a home on Fifth Street in Gloversville. Police said both men entered the residence through an unlocked front door and removed a safe, two laptops, two Playstation 3 consoles and several games for the systems.
Hodgson recently pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree attempted burglary. He is slated to receive 1 1/2 to three years in state prison when he is sentenced April 30 as a second-felony offender.
