Odyssey teams advance to state level

GLOVERSVILLE – On March 9, six Gloversville teams competed against dozens of other schools in the Central New York Odyssey of the Mind competition at Gloversville Middle School.

Three of Gloversville’s teams landed spots in the state competition by taking first place in their categories.

Two Gloversville teams took second place, with one team placing fourth.

Moving on to the state competition are:

– Kingsborough Elementary Pet Project, Division 1. Coaches: Denise Danise, Becky Heimer; Team: Sophia Danise, Ben Danise, John Heimer, Alex Rosemarino, Anthony Albanese, Nolan Abraham, Jacob Moss.

-?Kingsborough Elementary The Email Must Go Through, Problem 2 Division I. Coaches: Lisa Santini, Michele Marotta, April Jazeboski; Team: Arianna Muhlberger, Katie Callen, Riley Griffiths, Quentin Abraham, Dallys Melita, Ashley Marotta, Nick Jazeboski.

-?Gloversville High School The Email Must Go Through, Problem 2, Division III. Coaches: Lori Hauser, Leann Piazza, Ken Topliff, Gina Ruller; Team: Katie Hauser, Megan Patterson, Emily Gifford, Eric Close, Carmelo Piazza, Peter Piazza, Anthony Oathout.

Nicholas Jazeboski of the Kingsborough’s The Email Must Go Through team received the OM’er Award for showing Odyssey spirit. During the season, Nicholas had two eye surgeries and still learned his lines and kept in touch to learn where his team was with props and practice.
