FONDA – There will be a Community Clean Sweep from 9 to 11:30 a.m. April 20 starting at the Fonda Reformed Church, 19-21 Broadway. There is no rain date. The Community Clean Sweep involves picking up litter and raking areas around sidewalks and parks in Fonda and Fultonville.
The volunteers will not clean out trash or unwanted items from peoples’ homes. Anyone who would like to be a volunteer should be at the church at 9 a.m. to sign in and receive an assigned area. This invitation is extended to all age groups in these communities. However, all children must be accompanied by an adult to participate.
There will be an attempt to assign adults with children to parks and the safest locations. Attendees should wear comfortable clothing that also is highly visible, a news release said. Other suggested items to bring are sunscreen, work gloves, rakes, shovels, brooms or a wheelbarrow if it can be transported.
All cans and bottles collected will be donated to the Fonda Reformed Church senior high youth group to help offset the cost of their mission trip. Coffee, water and light refreshments will be available at the church.
