Pair charged with grand larceny

MOHAWK – State police said two men were arrested Friday after an investigation into stolen vehicles.

Robert W. Green, 18, and Ronald W. Weyant, 19, both of Amsterdam, were both charged with third-degree grand larceny.

Police said troopers investigated an incident in February in which three snowmobiles were stolen from a residence on Albany Bush Road. Two of the snowmobiles were recovered nearby and one was found on Stoner Trail Road, police said.

Police said troopers and Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies interviewed Green on April 3 about the stolen snowmobiles and a stolen Chevy Silverado pickup truck. Green confessed to taking the snowmobiles and pickup truck, police said.

Weyant turned himself in at the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department and admitted to taking the snowmobiles and several other vehicles in the city of Amsterdam, police said.

Police said Green and Weyant were being held until they were able to appear in court.
