Police: Shoplifter flees, gets arrested

AMSTERDAM – A city man stole items from Price Chopper and fled on foot into a wooded area before police apprehended him, city police said.

According to deputies, Hector Rosado, 32, of 113 Guy Park Ave., was charged Tuesday with petit larceny and resisting arrest.

According to a report, Price Chopper Loss Prevention had stopped Rosado for shoplifting. Rosado fled from the store and was found by Deputy Richard Christiano behind the Amsterdam Memorial Hospital, police said.

Rosado then fled on foot into a wooded area near Kohl’s.

Amsterdam and state police were called in for assistance, K-9 units flushed Rosado from the woods, police said.

He was apprehended near the intersection of Golf Course Road and Van Dyke Avenue, police said.
