CHARLESTON-Montgomery?County sheriff’s deputies said two men were arrested Thursday after they were allegedly caught stealing from a home in town.
Daniel M. Oldorff, 39, of 1617 Alexander Road, Delanson, and Tommy L. Chapman, 18, of Freehold, were each charged with second-degree burglary and fourth-degree grand larceny.
On?Thursday, deputies said, a homeowner returned home and saw two men taking numerous items from the home and placing them into a trailer.
When confronted by the homeowner, deputies said, the two men sped away in separate vehicles with the homeowner following them.
The vehicles travelled down Route 30A, turning onto Burtonsville Road. Some of the property stolen, including a generator and stove, fell out the back of the truck and into the roadway.
The homeowner ultimately lost sight of the vehicles, but was able to get a plate number.
Deputies said they learned the 1996 Jeep Cherokee was registered to Oldorff and obtained a valid address for him. Oldorff’s home was searched by state police, deputies said, and both men were found there.
Oldorff and Chapman were arraigned in Town Court and sent to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $30,000 cash bail or $60,000 bond.
